New Delhi, August 7 (MExN): The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with E-School of Business (ESB), Nagaland, to promote entrepreneurship among tribal communities through capacity building, innovation, mentorship and enterprise development.

The MoU was signed at the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Kartavya Bhavan-I, New Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey and Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ranjana Chopra. Anant Prakash Pandey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry.

ESB is an incubator empanelled with Startup Nagaland under the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland.

The partnership aims to identify aspiring tribal entrepreneurs, nurture innovative business ideas and provide end-to-end support from ideation to enterprise growth. It seeks to address gaps faced by tribal entrepreneurs, including limited access to business knowledge, mentorship, finance, technology, incubation facilities and market linkages.

Through structured training programmes, mentoring, business advisory services and networking opportunities, the collaboration will seek to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurship in tribal regions.

A key focus of the initiative is to transform entrepreneurial aspirations into viable and sustainable enterprises. The partnership will also seek to leverage traditional knowledge, cultural assets and natural resources available in tribal communities while introducing modern entrepreneurial practices to create livelihoods and employment.

Officials associated with the initiative said entrepreneurship has become an important driver of socio-economic development and that providing tribal youth with the necessary ecosystem could enable them to become "job creators" while contributing to local economic growth.

The collaboration also aligns with the objectives of the Atal Innovation Mission, particularly in promoting innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship. It will facilitate access to government schemes, incubation support, financial institutions, technology partners and markets for entrepreneurs in tribal areas.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and ESB expressed confidence that the partnership would help nurture innovation, encourage enterprise creation and foster sustainable livelihoods among tribal communities.
