Nagaland's lone Rajya Sabha MP Kewezu G. Kenye has adopted Lütsam and Phokhungri villages in Meluri Sub Division of Phek district under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), parliamentarian village mode.
SAGY is a village development project launched by Government of India in October 2014, under which each Member of Parliament will take the responsibility of developing physical and institutional infrastructure in the villages.
Announcing this during the 7th cultural festival of Phokhungri Area Cultural Society (PACS) on April 11 at Shilloi Lake in Lütsam, the MP said that the focus area will be on health, eco-tourism, infrastructure development, improvement of roads etc.
Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is a rural development programme broadly focusing upon the development in the villages which includes social development, cultural development and spread motivation among the people on social mobilization of the village community.
As requested by people of Phokhungri area, Kenye assured to construct MP’s Guest House at Shilloi Lake and also to renovate the helipad.
Later, Kenye along with government officials visited International Trade Centre at Avakhung and expressed satisfaction over the infrastructure development.
