Naga People’s Front (NPF) Secretary General and MP (Rajya Sabha) KG Kenye today said that in the past few weeks, ever since the onset of the new government, “the party has plunged once again into divisions.”
Ever since the internal crisis, be it from central office or other camp, “we call ourselves anything but the world sees us as one,” Kenye said while addressing a press conference here today at NPF Central office.
He also noted that the party has completely betrayed the trust and confidence of the people which they have reposed faith for three consecutive terms to put the party in power.
“Instead of concentrating in developments and delivery to the people what we have promised to them through our manifesto, we legislators as well as the party rank and file have behave irresponsibly,” the Secretary General said.
Because of our betrayal, because of our misconduct, we have made a drama out of this, he added.
As secretary general of the party, Kenye said he tender unconditional apology to the people of the state “for our behaviours, for our irresponsibilities and the variety show which had been continuing over the years since 2014, 2015 till date.”
“Time and again we keep creating this crisis,” he regretted.
The people of the state aspect good governance and responsible behaviour “but we have become jesters, jokers and we have projected a completely distorted image of our Naga society to the neighbours and the whole world,” Kenye further maintained.
“We have lost all sense of dignity. We have to be conscious of our actions, words and our mindset.”
The Secretary General also noted that instead of always going to the press and media and taking issue to the street saying who is right and who is wrong, a collective responsibility and realization is needed.
“Whatever we may call ourselves, he said people see us as one. We are still one.”
Stating that the present crisis is an internal matter, he said the NPF is trying to conceive from the public view as much as it can and confine it to the boundaries, the court room of Election Commission and court room of High Court.
“People are tired. People are just fed up of this crisis and internal fight between NPF. No one interested who is right/who is wrong, Kenye said.
“We should not try to magnify our crisis into such a case that it becomes the focal point to keep distracting our society from concentrating into other constructive and positive business of life,” he said adding that Naga people cannot circle around the crisis of this party all the time.
“Let us finish our internal differences from within the four wall of this party,” he said. “The custodian of the political party in the world largest democracy give, spell out the version what is the matter or what should be.”
On being asked whether there is any proposal for reconciliation, he said there is no such proposal.
“I think it will be a fight to finish this time,” he said.
He said that TR. Zeliang’s government is a party-less government as central party is not with them and they were all suspended or expelled members.
