MPC flays July 30 incident

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) has flayed the July 30 incident where two members of the Dimapur press fraternity were robbed by unidentified miscreants.
Concerning the incident, the MPC in a press note issued by the president and secretary of MPC, Limalenden Longkumer  and Sashimeren Jamir stated that it strongly question the “lackadaisical attitude” of the Dimapur police who are giving a wrong message to the miscreants and emboldening them to continue on with their criminal activities.
MPC strongly urge the concerned authority to expedite the case and leave no stone unturned in arresting the culprits at the earliest. It is distressing to note that no headway have been made even after a lapse of more than three days since the incident occurred. The Mokokchung Press Club demands that the culprits be arrested and justice delivered.
“The MPC strongly condemns such unabashed attack on the members of the fourth estate who are working under much stress and pressure from different quarters.  What is more troubling is the fact that the miscreants took the name of a certain faction of the Naga political groups, and threatened the scribes to be taken to their camp if they resisted. The MPC strongly appeals the Naga national groups to reign in the rogue elements in their organization and ensure that the freedom of press be left intact,” stated the press note.
Moreover, the MPC has strongly appealed the public to stand by the fourth estate in times like this, and come out openly against such criminal activities. The MPC also extends sympathy to the two victims
who had to go through such mental and physical trauma, and extends our solidarity to the victims.
