MR Campaign: Mon block first BTFI meet

Mon, August 1 (MExN): The first Block Task Force on Immunization (BTFI) meeting (Mon block) for Measles Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign was held on July 30 at DC conference hall, Mon under the chairmanship of Chumlamo Humtsoe, SDO Mon Sadar & Chairman Mon BTFI.  

According to a DIPR report, Chumlamo said it is our responsibility to give proper vaccination to all our children. He requested all concerned to ensure MR vaccine to every child from 9 months to 15 years of age and pass proper information to all the families in their respective wards and villages.   The members present were also asked to support and cooperate for the successful conduct of the Measles-Rubella campaign which is going to start from October 3, 2018.  

Dr. Elizabeth, Medical Officer, CMO office, Mon explained that measles is an acute viral infection spread via respiratory secretion or aerosols. Its mortality is highest in children. She further informed that rubella is a mild, self-limiting viral illness and the disease during early pregnancy may result in spontaneous-abortion and serious birth defects. She also pointed out that vaccination will be given by trained health workers. Some of the key vaccination facts were also explained in details.  

Mewang, SHP Coordinator spoke on roles and responsibility of various departments in MR campaign through PowerPoint presentations.  

Village Council Chairmen under Mon block, presidents of eleven wards of Mon Town, SIS of Education department, CDPOs of Social Welfare department and Information Assistant, District Public Relations office, Mon attended the meeting.
