MTC road mishap: 2 more bodies recovered

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) of Meghalaya on Friday recovered the bodies of the last two victims of the MTC bus mishap from Ringdi River in Nongshram village, East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

The body of the first victim was recovered at around 9:00 am by the SDRF personnel who were pressed into action since Thursday. The SDRF team recovered the second body in the afternoon. Both the bodies recovered are males. This took the death toll in the MTC bus mishap to 8. 

The SDRF team comprising of 8 jawans was led by T K Sangma, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence, East Garo Hills district.

The bus belonging to the Meghalaya Transport Corporation plunged into a river in the village of Nongchram between the borders of the districts of East Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills (WKH) in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Six bodies were recovered on Thursday.
