With reference of the Naga Council letter 20 May 2012 a meeting of the Muslim community was held on 27.05.15 at local ground at 10:30 am, convened by Shri. Vihuto Yeptho, chief advisor, erstwhile Muslim Council Dimapur. More than six thousand Muslims living in Dimapur attended the meeting.
The following resolutions were adopted:
1. The meeting resolved the people of Muslim Community having faith and conviction to tradition and values of Islam and respect and regards of all other religion do hereby solemnly affirm to oppose all crimes in the community. The Muslims pledge to uphold the highest tradition and values of Islam with a special regards and respect for local people, their tradition, customary laws and religion. The community further pledge to promote peace and social harmony and understanding among all fellow human beings of Dimapur and fight the forces disruption threatening peaceful con-existence of all the communities living in Dimapur.
2. Taking the reference of the Naga Council letter dated 20.05.12 the meeting resolved to dissolve Muslim Council of Dimapur and very recently formed Muslim Peoples’ Organization. In the event of dissolution of both the organization the meeting by one voice resolved to form a new organization for the Muslims of Dimapur under the name and style “Dimapur Muslim Public Forum” and Shanawar Shaikh (Munna) was unanimously selected as the president of the newly formed organization. Md. Babar was selected as general secretary while Md. Baharuddin and Md. A. Matin and Md. Hasnain Raza were selected as vice presidents. Md. Saifullah Khalid was made treasurer of the new body. The meeting further authorized the newly selected president to select his team of office bearers.
3. The meeting reviewed the social lives of the people of Muslim community in Dimapur for the last few years and had observed with great dismay that the community life has been made miserable by the irrelevant and uncalled for interference of working president and president of hitherto MCD. Mr. Ahidur Rahman, working president of MCD has been using the altar of Masjids and panjagunahs as his own platform to announce and chalk out the programme and strategy of MCD without caring the sanctity of those religious places. Both the president, Mr. A Hanan Tapadar and working president used the bara masjid premises as their own office causing hardships to the devotees. They have abused, insulted and even assaulted many devotees. They have arranged a kind of cocas around them to carry out their willful activities inside the religious places especially in bara masjid, Hazi Park. Their irrelevant interference in every issue of the community to project themselves as the sole rescuer of Muslim community has complicated the social lives of Muslims. They have made representations to various government departments to impress upon them that no work of any of the Muslim community be done without their recommendation creating chaos in the community life. Both of them misused the social position assumed by them under the banner of MCD causing embracement for the Muslim society as a whole. The meeting therefore unanimously resolved to ex-communicate Mr. Ahidur Rahman and Mr. A Hanan Tapadar. They are disqualified to assumed or be assumed any work on behalf of the Muslim society in Dimapur. They are further barred to interfere in any religious or social matter of the community. Their ex-communication from the Muslim community of Dimapur shall remain in force till the community passes any further resolution to the contrary to resolve the same.
4. The meeting resolved to constitute a five member committee under the chairmanship of Md. Saifullah Khalid to investigate to financial assets hitherto dealt with by MCD and find out the assets and liabilities created by them in the name of the community and furnish the report thereupon within three months to the president of the newly formed DMPF.
5. The meeting was adjourned with a note of special thanks to local administration, law enforcing agency, SP, SDPOs of Dimapur for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of the meeting. The meeting also expressed special thanks to Naga Council Dimapur for their valuable advices and guidelines of the meeting.
