Kohima, September 13 (MExN): Taking serious account of the anti-social activities taking place at the Kohima War Cemetery, the Midland Youth Organisation (MYO), Kohima, today warned against any individuals or groups indulging in such activities within the premises of the cemetery.
Expressing its pain and shame over the thefts, use of intoxicants, and the many unwanted activities taking place inside the cemetery premises, the MYO informed the public that the youth body would take its own course of action against any person/persons found engaging in such activities. A press release informing this was issued by MYO president Atou Liezietsu and finance secretary Eric Kesiezie.
Stating that the War Cemetery falls under the jurisdiction of Midland Colony, the MYO informed that its volunteers would be deployed within the premises to check on such activities. The organisation also informed that any student wearing uniform during school hours would not be allowed to enter the premises, and added: “If any students found in uniform during the class hour, the youth volunteer will report the matter to their respective parents and the school authorities.” The MYO further urged the public to cooperate with the youth body in maintaining and respecting the Cemetery, “which is our pride and image”.
