NAA conducts Khelo India-NTPC City Open Archery Tournament

Kohima, March 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Archery Association (NAA) has conducted the Khelo India-NTPC City Open Archery Tournament at the Archery Ground, Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima on March 14 bringing together 64 talented archers from across the state to compete in multiple categories.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Asalie Peseyie, Secretary, NAA while Vesuzolu Swuro invoked God’s blessings, followed by a POSH and POCSO Awareness session delivered by Akumla Longchari, Advocate, Member, Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, highlighting the importance of safeguarding children and creating a safe sporting environment.

NAA president Chekrovolu Swuro, emphasized the significance of archery in Nagaland’s sporting culture and encouraged young athletes to pursue excellence and represent the state at national and international levels.

 

The competition featured events in Compound, Recurve, and Indian Round categories for both men and women.

After a day of spirited competition and impressive displays of skill and precision, the tournament concluded with a medal ceremony which was announced by Kaiyong, Joint Secretary, NAA, while e vote of thanks was proposed by Pretso Therie, Treasurer, NAA.

Meanwhile, the NAA congratulated all winners and participants for their outstanding performance and sportsmanship.

The association remains committed to promoting archery across the state and nurturing young talents who can represent Nagaland on larger sporting platforms, according to Asalie Peseyie.
