Naga apex bodies to renew agitation against DAA, AFSPA

Kohima, August 1 (MExN): Naga apex organizations will now undertake phase-wise agitations to register their protest against the imposition of the Disturbed Areas Act (DAA) and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

The first phase of the proposed agitation will entail students in all Naga inhabited areas wearing or displaying black badges in all education institutions of the Naga areas from August 3-5.

A consultative meeting of the Naga Hoho, the Naga Mothers’ Association, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), its various units, and the Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) held recently on the issue deliberated at length on the appeals and petitions for repealing the DAA and AFSPA. However, the Government has “failed on its part to address the matter,” informed a press release from NSF General Secretary Boevio Poukai Duo.

Therefore the decision was collectively made to begin the agitation.
