Kohima, February 2 (MExN): For the first time, Naga folk music was showcased in Nepal by the Tetseo Sisters at the cultural extravaganza ‘North Eastern Indian Cultural Festival in Nepal: Namaste Nepal’ held from January 14-27 spanning 9 districts of Nepal – Kathmandu, Patan, Pokhara, Birgunj, Biratnagar, Dharan, Janakpur, Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha. The unique sounds of Naga music was flaunted and appreciated in 4 districts of Nepal. The diverse cultures of North East India was accentuated during the festival, where Khasi folk music, Manipur dances, Mizoram bamboo dance and Khasi dances were also presented along with modern music performed by Shillong star, Lou Majaw and the Shillong Chamber Choir. The 14-day gala was organised under the sponsorship of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Indian Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, and North Eastern Council (NEC). This is the first time that Nepal facilitated a festival of North East India with a series of events and performances for two weeks.
