Naga Hoho meeting invite gets mixed response

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Naga Hoho today informed representatives of all tribe hohos and interested individuals to attend the meeting called on August 28 at 11:00am at Agri Expo Angh House, Dimapur.

The Lotha Public Organisation (LPO), in a press release of its own, stated that it would be attending the meeting and urged Lotha public organisations, Dimapur based units, different ranges, circles and areas from Wokha district to do the same in traditional Lotha attire.

A press release from the LPO meanwhile stated that “any Lotha member who rendered their representation to the Central Naga Tribal Council (CNTC) on behalf of Lotha Community is regarded as their own personal interest and not as Lotha representatives.” The LPO stressed that it “has no intention to interfere in the functioning of CNTC,” and added the CNTC “needs to be a backbone of Naga Hoho at this crucial juncture when Naga political solution is in the final stage.”

It further affirmed the LPO’s commitment to “restore back the Naga Hoho” and urged tribe leaders to “rebuild the broken and fragmented Naga society.”

NCD, WSH to abstain
The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) meanwhile issued a statement informing that it would abstain from attending the August 28 meeting. A press release from the NCD President further directed all its units to do the same. “The Naga Hoho has convened the said meeting without intimation to Naga Council Dimapur even though the organization is the co-opted member of the Naga Hoho,” it stated.

The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) also issued a press statement barring “any Sumis from its jurisdiction in attending the meeting called by the Naga Hoho on the August 28 at Dimapur.” “Anyone attending the said meet will be purely in his or her own vested interest and does not represent the Western Sumis in whatsoever manner,” a press release from the WSH media cell stated.
