DIMAPUR, APRIL 14 (MExN): The Naga Hoho has fervently requested all the Naga tribes not to blow the Delimitation issue out of proportion cautioning that this could lead to further misunderstanding and divisions amongst people. “Rather, let sobriety prevail amongst the various tribe’s leadership and wisdom, so that the best alternative can be worked out in an atmosphere of tranquility that can only manifest the common vision our people have for a future that is dear to our hearts despite our many weaknesses and limitations,” it stated in a pres communiqué issued by Neingulo Krome General Secretary Naga Hoho.
An executive council meeting of the Naga Hoho held at its office at Kohima on April 13 noted with serious concern, the mounting tensions that are building up lately with regard to the issues of delimitation vis-à-vis adjustments of assembly constituencies etc. “And in all fairness, the Naga Hoho would urge the Government of India and its various agencies not to impose its constitutional obligations to the Naga people at this time of our history, when we are passing through a very trying period, and rather make all out efforts to settle the Indo-Naga political problem which is the ‘crux of all matters,’” the Naga Hoho stated.
The meeting also deliberated on issues of immediate concern and decided to formulate on some future course of action. In this regard, a Federal Assembly is being convened to be held at Dimapur on May 18, where issues ‘close to the hearts of the Naga people,’ such as those of unity and reconciliation will be discussed amongst other things, informed the Naga Hoho.
