Naga Organic Pavilion at Hortiscape inaugurated

Kisama, November 30 (MExN): The Naga Organic Pavilion at Hortiscape, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama was officially inaugurated by N Hushili Sema, IAS, APC & Principal Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Agriculture on November 28.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr R Elithung Lotha, Director of Horticulture said that a team of officers of both the Agriculture and Horticulture Department led by the APC & Principal Secretary visited the Hortiscape on September 9 and decided to create an organic themed pavilion with the concept to provide facilities for showcasing the organic produces and items of the State and to provide direct business opportunity to the State’s organic producers with visiting National and International buyers through buyers to buyers and buyers to sellers meets and interactions, especially during the Hornbill Festival. 
He lauded all those involved in the creation of the organic pavilion especially Eluba Temshi, Assistant Horticulture Officer who despite facing a lot of hurdles due to roadblocks and incessant rains in the period following the initiation of the works, managed to successfully oversee the works and ensure their completion within such a short time.
Addressing the gathering, the Agriculture Production Commissioner & Principal Secretary said that the concept of creating the Naga Organic Pavilion was a unanimous decision between the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Horticulture and was taken up under RKVY-RAFTAAR, keeping in mind the potential of the State for organic production and given the fact that the State was encouraging organic farming under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North-East Region (MOVCD-NER) in a big way. She expressed appreciation to the Officers of the Department of Horticulture for their efforts, hard work and dedication especially Eluba Temshi, Assistant Horticulture Officer under whose supervision works were taken up and completed within the stipulated time frame.
She urged and encouraged the young officers to put in equal amount of dedication and sincerity so that the potential of the Agriculture Sector can be tapped to its fullest potential. She further advised the Departments to conduct year round activities at the Organic Pavilion for the benefit of the farming community and to create a quality image of Naga organic suppliers and their products and connect them to high-end markets while also educating the farmers on market dynamics, costing of produces and packaging.
M Ben Yanthan, Director of Agriculture pronouncing the vote of thanks, expressed appreciation to the APC & Principal secretary under whose dynamic leadership the works were initiated and also the Officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Landowners and all the individuals who were part of the works.
The programme was attended by a host of dignitaries, Officials from the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture and other well-wishers.
