“My health condition has been improving due to the intake of organic vegetables.” exclaimed one of the customers of the ‘Naga Organic Shop’. She further said we make blunder for the consumption of chemical products for many decades. While the other customers’ states, “I buy minimum vegetables from the market instead I grow them in my own garden by using Green manure technique and applying organic compost.” When asked why she buys minimum market vegetables, she whispered that most of the market vegetables are chemical used products, which causes hazard to our health.

Recently, the government of Nagaland has announced “NAGALAND” as an organic state. With this motive the governments are trying their best to create awareness campaign on the use/uses of organic method by setting up seminars and trainings. Thus, to extend help and facilities for those individuals who are in demand for organic inputs/manure, a new shop “Naga Organic Shop” is opened for you at DC Court Road, opposite St. Stephen School, Dimapur. The specialty of this shop can be noted that, apart from selling the organic manure with minimum price such as Vermi-Compost and some Biodynamic preparations. It deals free consultation through expert persons. Further the owner of the shop says he even go to the extend of helping customers’ kitchen garden by suggesting the various methods of maintaining the garden and pest control without chemical use.

One may be curious to know who the owner of the shop is. Here is an exceptional case found among the Naga youth. Samuel Sangtam, MSc in Agronomy is the acclaimed owner of the shop. At present he is working as a Project Co-ordinator in “Organic Farming” under Prodigals Home, Dimapur based NGO. When asked what is his motive behind running the shop, he states, “If you want to stay healthy and live longer, eat organic products” after a gigantic laugh, he continues saying this shop serve as an agent of awareness for those who remain ignorant about organic and at the same time supply to meet the demands for those who want to imply it but have no access to it. Further, Samuel comments “Let this shop be an example for all the unemployed youth”. The very shop is said to be set up by his own cost but he may ask the assistance from the state government in the near future.
