Naga orgs not for Nagas? Absurd, says NSCN-IM

Dimapur, Jan 5 (MExN): The NSCN-IM terms as ‘absurd and inconsistent’ the contention that Naga civil organizations do not represent the Nagas. “The civil societies’ representatives are elected democratically whereas, are the likes of Mulatonu, Akato or Phutoyi similarly elected or self-styled jingoists?” an NSCN-IM  MIP  note questioned.

It pointed out that the Collective Leadership “have been given the mandate” of the Nagas to negotiate the Naga political issue with the Government of India, “because they are pursuing the national issue on the right and proper track” with the support of the people.

“But NNC/FGN and Khaplang have not been given the people’s mandate, contemporary, because their works does not represent the Naga people but are completely anti-Naga and anti-national oriented activities” the NSCN-IM asserted. It noted irony that rather than appreciating “the noble jobs” that the Collective Leadership has achieved in the “international arena”, they are being rewarded with false criticisms. “They have gone to the extent of spitting discourtesies upon Naga international support groups and friends/well-wishers for helping or extending their sympathies to the Nagas” it stated and called for a ‘realistic’ approach towards pertinent issues rather than “deviating from it and dwelling on nonsensical matters to the amusement of our adversaries”.

Also, matters deserving deliberations, debate and efforts are political subjects in nature and not “domestic or personal issues” so these would be engaged in and not “nonsensical matters”, says the NSCN-IM, pointing out a special reference to “national political issues”. Rather than criticism which is “amusement to our adversaries”, the Collective Leadership’s efforts should be appreciated, it says.

“The NSCN/GPRN is engaged in national political issues and will deal only in matters confined to its parameters, Naga political issues; pseudo-nationalists may harp on with their short-termed materialistic-oriented agendas in the name of nationalism to misguide and mislead the Nagas, but in vain” the note stated.  According to the NSCN-IM, rivals NSCN-K is without any political agenda but to undermine the Naga political solution and are like “puppets on stage with the strings being controlled by their Indian pay-masters”. Their movement is like a ship without radar drifting where the wind is blowing, headed towards their nemesis, it stated.
