Naga singer Lui Tzudir’s demise mourned

The Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) Advisor, Theja Meru mourned the untimely demise of popular Naga singer Lui Tzudir, who passed away on November 16.


Lui was a member of the band OFF; one of the few Naga bands which won the Hornbill Rock Contest in 2009.


Lui’s band was also part of the Naga contingent to perform at the first international edition of the Handshake concert held in Bangkok Thailand in 2012 and organized by Rattle & Hum Music Society.


Meru stated that “The music community is in a state of shock and disbelief at the untimely demise of Lui.”


“In his life he loved and was much loved by one and all especially music lovers,”  he stated and TaFMA and the music fraternity,  Meru expressed condolences to his loving wife and family and prayed for God’s abundant love and mercy to be present with them in this time of grief and sorrow.


Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister Nagaland stated that Lui was an exceptional talent, saying that “through his performances he created a better appreciation of our people and our land across international boundaries.”


Photographic memories of his performances at the Hornbill Rock Contest, State Banquet Hall, Raj Bhavan’s Durbar Hall and at international Handshake Concerts still remains fresh, Metha stated.


He was a rare talent and an excellent musician, Metha said adding that Lui did the state and country proud with his performances in different parts of the country and abroad.
