Naga Students' Union Pune observes freshers’ meet

Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): The Naga Students' Union Pune (NSUP) celebrated its 39th annual freshers' meet on August 15 at Don Bosco Youth centre with Dr Kalpana Wandrekar, Chairperson of Language Development Committee, Deccan Education Society as the chief guest.


Dr Kalpana in her speech stressed on the importance of language and why it is important to safeguard our traditions and customs. She talked about the importance of education and encouraged the students to choose their career paths wisely. Dr Kalpana encouraged the students to be active in extra-curricular activities and learn different kinds of skills outside the college in their free time.


Bachchan Singh (IPS), Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime, Pune Police, the guest of honor, assured the students that Pune is one of the safest city in India and extended full support from the Pune Police  to the Nagas in case of any emergencies.


NSUP President Lulu N Lohe in her speech welcomed the freshers to the city and assured them that the Union is always there to listen to their problems and help them in tackling the same.


She encouraged the students to imbibe the best knowledge and experience and work hard and strive to lead the way to unity and progress while doing their best to represent the Naga Society.


Furthermore she encouraged the members to continue to involve in the affairs of the Union and use their abilities in the functioning of the union.


The Comperes for the event were Angam Chavei and Rose Mere.


The event was highlighted with performances by the members of NSUP. It included folk song, solo performances, dance and band performances.


The First session started with a prayer, invoking God's presence by Dindu Khangchian (Associate Pastor, NCF Pune).
Langanglung Gangmei , Advisor NSUP and PJ Khache  gave the exhortation. Worngam Keishing (Pastor, TBC Pune) prayed over the freshers for God's guidance and protection upon them.  


Pastor Kharingsho Ahum (Associate Pastor TBCP) gave a benediction for the first session.


Chubatemsu Kichu and Elizabeth Kath were crowned Mister and Miss Fresher for the year 2019 respectively. They were gifted with vouchers worth Rs. 10,000, which was sponsored by Dina Pamei, a Naga entrepreneur in Pune. The programme was closed with a prayer by Joshua Chang, Pastoral Intern, NCF Pune.
