The 7th edition of Naga Wrestle Mania (King of the Ring Series 2018) under the aegis of 3E Nagaland will be held from October 22-27 at Kohima local ground.
This was announced by Elvis Mepfhuo, managing director, 3E during press briefing at Capital Convention Centre.
He also announced that the preliminary rounds will he played separately in the light weight (74 kg and below) and Heavyweight (Above 74 Kg) categories. After a certain round, the remaining wrestlers in both categories will be grouped together to vie for the King of the Ring Championship.
Unlike previous editions, there will be no individual category champions, but wrestlers who survive up to certain stages of the competition will be awarded cash prizes. Cash prize details will be notified when registration starts in the latter part of August 2018.
He also said that Nagaland Taekwondo League 2018, organised by the Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) is set to take place soon. In due course of time, NTA will announce the date, time and other details of the event. Interested players must therefore, either wait for NTA‘s announcement or get in touch with NTA officials for more information.
It was also informed that X-l International (Mixed Martial Arts), a new MMA promotion was launched recently with a series of fights planned across the country, of which the Kohima is one. There will be two fight cards—An Open Card which will be drawn from open registration of interested amateur fighters in different weight classes; and a Closed Card which will be predetermined with already established lighters vying for championship titles.
The open card participants will get the chance to climb the x-l.in rankings to carve a career as semi-pro and pro fighters.
Registration for open fight card will commence simultaneously with Naga Wrestle Mania 7 in the latter part of August, for which registration outlets will be notified some days ahead.
The Combat Sports Festival will also feature ethnic food and merchandise stall. Interested parties have been invited to contact 3E Nagaland for management of stalls on tender basis.
