Kohima, August 10 (MExN): In anticipation of NagaWrestleMania-9 King of the Ring Series 2022, 3E Nagaland announced that the event will be held from October 20 to 22, sponsored by Vuto Hyundai.
Providing details about the competition, Kethosituo Mepfuo, 3E Nagaland, Managing Director explained through a press release that the wrestlers will have to first compete in two weight categories-Lightweight-80 kg & below and Heavyweight- above 80 kg. While registration outlets will be available at different locations of Kohima namely, Sports World Taxi Stand, Orchid Store Razhü Point and TMK Market High School Junction. The last date for registration is on August 31, he added.
Mepfuo further instructed that the wrestlers must mention their present weight in the form for ascertaining their category but there will be a final weight measurement right before the event. The total cash prizes for categories, Championships and King of the Ring Championship stand at around Rs 5 lakhs however more bonuses will be announced from pay-per-view (PPV) and telecast rights, he revealed.
The event will be held under the aegis of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) at Hockey Ground, IG Stadium, Kohima.
Meanwhile, a wrestling basic demonstration and coaching for non-wrestling communities will be conducted by a former Nagaland champion as resource person in the third week of August, Mepfou mentioned. Also, videos of the demonstration and coaching will be released on 3E Nagaland’s YouTube channel for free access, he said.
