Naga writers discuss scripting social issues in fiction at Kohima College

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 2 (MExN): The 8th series of "Naga Writer's Speak" took place today in the conference hall of Kohima College, Kohima. The event revolved around the theme of "writing social issues in fiction."

Dr Neikehienuo Mepfhü-o, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Functional English at Kohima College, graced the occasion as the guest speaker. She delivered an insightful talk about how Nagas have been using various literary forms, including poetry, novels, short stories, and even dissertation writing, to explore different facets of their own culture. Dr Mepfhü-o emphasized the significance of literature as a powerful tool for delving into and addressing social issues.

In her address, she shared her experiences and explained that her work is often rooted in real-life stories, documenting the lived experiences of people. She showcased the power of literature in shedding light on various social concerns and driving meaningful change in society.

Megovono Üsou, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, provided valuable insights into the origins of the "Naga Writer's Speak" series, which aims to offer opportunities and a platform for local writers to share their creative works. The event was chaired by Limayangla Pongener, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Kohima College, Kohima. The program concluded with an engaging question and answer session, a press release issued by Kohima College stated.
