Nagaland: 226 new COVID cases, 4 more deaths

State records 30.25% positivity rate

DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): 226 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Nagaland on April 30 out of 747 test results received. This indicated an alarmingly high positivity rate of 30.25% on the day.  This is the second time this week the State has recorded over 30% positivity rate in a single day. 

As per the MHA’s recent directive, a test positivity of 10% or more is the broad parameter for designating a particular district or area as containment zones.  

The new cases include 137 from Dimapur, 74 from Kohima, 10 from Tuensang, 2 from Wokha and 1 each from Mon, Peren and Zunheboto. A staggering 151 of the new cases are traced contacts, 60 are returnees and travelers, 9 are from the armed forces and security personnel, and 6 are frontline workers. 

Meanwhile, 12 patients recovered from the infection on April 30. They include 8 from Dimapur, and 2 each from Kohima and Mokokchung. The total caseload of the State is now 13,976. A total of 12,224 people have recovered from the infection and there are now 1,261 active cases in the State. 

4 more deaths were also reported on April 30, taking the total death toll due to COVID-19 to 94 in the State. Meanwhile, 10 deaths have been categorized as not COVID related. 

Of the active cases in Nagaland, 1,167 are asymptomatic, 59 have mild symptoms, 16 have moderate symptoms requiring oxygen, and 15 have severe symptoms requiring oxygen. 3 patients are in the ICU with 2 of them on ventilator.
