Nagaland: 309 cases, 13 new deaths

225 patients recover from infection

DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (MExN): 309 new cases of COVID-19 were detected out of 1,541 test results in Nagaland on May 21. Thirteen new deaths due to the virus were also reported on the day. 

The new cases include 122 from Dimapur, 113 from Kohima, 22 from Phek, 15 from Mokokchung, 12 from Wokha, 11 from Zunheboto, 9 from Tuensang, 4 from Mon, and 1 from Peren. 

They comprise of 153 detected through self testing and random sampling, 134 traced contacts, 9 frontline workers, 8 from the armed forces/security personnel, and 5 returnees/travelers. 

Meanwhile, 225 new patients have recovered from the infection. The new recoveries include 78 from Kohima, 75 from Dimapur, 43 from Mon, 13 from Zunheboto, 8 from Wokha, 4 from Tuensang, 3 from Phek, and 1 from Kiphire.

The total caseload of the State is now 19,593. A total of 14,149 recoveries have been made and there are now 4,588 active cases in the State. With 13 new deaths, the total death count due to COVID-19 in Nagaland is now 247. 

Of the active cases in the State, 4,222 are asymptomatic, 171 have mild symptoms, 68 have moderate symptoms requiring oxygen, and 81 have severe symptoms requiring oxygen. Meanwhile, 46 people are in the ICU, with 13 of them on ventilators.
