Nagaland: 9 new COVID cases and 16 recoveries

Nagaland today recorded 9 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 16 new recoveries. 

State Health Minister, Pangnyu Phom informed that the new cases include 7 from Kohima & 2 from Dimapur. They comprise of 1 from armed forces, 1 returnee, 1 frontline worker and 6 traced contacts. The new recoveries include 5 each from Kohima and Mokokchung and 3 each from Dimapur and Peren. The State now has a total caseload of 11,987 of which 11,655 have recovered leaving 107 active cases. 

Vaccination rollout on Jan 16

Meanwhile, Nagaland Minister, Neiba Kronu who is the Spokesperson for the State’s HPC today informed that Nagaland along with the rest of the country will roll out COVID vaccination on January 16. The vaccine will be made available by the Centre through the existing cold chain immunization programme in phased manner. The two COVID-19 vaccines to be rolled out are COVISHIELD and COVAXIN.

In the 1st phase, priority will be health care workers, followed by frontline workers, police & administration,  those above 50 years and those with co-morbidities.

An estimated 19,690 healthcare workers are set to be vaccinated in Nagaland. The Minister also informed that there are about 30,000 frontline workers and 3,49,757 people above 50 years of age. The number of persons below 50 with co-morbidities is yet to be estimated.
