
Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): Nagaland recorded a spike of 89 new COVID-19 cases on January 18, according to the health department’s daily health bulletin. Out of the 903 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, Dimapur reported 66 new cases, Kohima 12, Peren 4, Zunheboto 3, Phek 2, while Mon and Mokokchung reported a single case each. A total of 60 new cases were detected through self tests and random tests while 25 returnees and travelers also tested positive. Meanwhile, 2 other cases were detected among the armed forces/security personnel and 2 among traced contacts. On the other hand, 104 patients who had previously tested positive for the virus recovered on Tuesday, taking the number of recoveries in the state to 30,624. The total caseload of the State is now 33,053 out of which 454 are active COVID-19 cases. The number of fatalities due to COVID-19 remained at 687.
