MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 21 (DIPR): Border Peace Coordination Committee, Assam and Nagaland, (BPCCA&N) on completion of one year of its inception on August 19, organized a function at Saring Village, Mokokchung District to Commemorate its first foundation day.
The foundation day celebration was organized with the aim of continuance of the age-old peaceful relationship between the Assamese and Naga people and also to further strengthen the activities of the committee and add dynamism to it. Representatives from the Legislature, Administration, business community, student bodies and villagers from both the States participated overwhelmingly in the day-long programme.
Guest of Honour, MLA from Tuli, Nagaland, T Tali, in his address stated that the two are inseparable entities and inter-dependent, it is therefore very appropriate to take serious note while dealing with border issues. “We should also do away with the misconception regarding border affairs,” he added. Guest of Honour, MLA from Mariani Assam, Rupgyoti Kurmi in his address called upon the people from both the states to live in peace and harmony, adding that one should fight for peace not for land. He also proposed a meeting between Governments of both Nagaland and Assam state to settle the issue through mutual consensus.
Earlier in the programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mangkolemba, YY Sangtam and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jorhat, TK Nath exhorted the gathering. Deputy Director, Border Affairs, Toniho read out a message from Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner Nagaland, TN Manen. Welcome speeches were delivered by president, BPCC (A&N) Bhaba Prasad Bora, Chairman Saring village Council respectively. Er. Temsu Wathi, DIO, NIC Mokokchung shared a brief retrospection of the BBCC (A&N). Other highlights of the programme included Cultural extravaganza from Nagaland and Assam.
