DIMAPUR, JANUARY 17 (MExN): Nagaland continued their perfect streak at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy beating Mizoram by 77 runs on January 17.
Nagaland elected to bat first and set a target of 179 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Skipper Jonathan Rongsen has been the key player for Nagaland throughout the tournament and excelled today as well scoring 51 runs.
Meanwhile SS Mundhe scored a knock of 32 runs, with contributions from Chetan Bist (30 runs) and Joshua (16 runs).
For Mizoram, G Lalbiakvela and Pratik Desai bagged 2 wickets each while Bobby took 1 wicket.
In the second innings, Mizoram were bowled out for just 101 runs in 19.1 overs.
Nagaho Chishi and Khrievitso Kense had Nagaland’s best bowling performances taking 3 wickets each. Meanwhile Stuart Binny, Hopongkyu and Hem took 1 wicket each.
For Mizoram, Amatea was the highest scorer with 39 runs followed by KB Pawan with 25 runs.
Nagaland will next play Manipur on January 19 at noon.
Late G Rio Memorial U-19 tourney from today
Meanwhile, a press release from the Nagaland Cricket Association informed that the 1st Late G. Rio Memorial U-19 (Boys) Inter-District Tournament organised will kick off on January 18.
The inaugural match will be played between Dimapur and Mokokchung at 7:30am and the second Match will be played between Kohima and Tuensang at 11:45am at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
Gate No-2 of the Nagaland Cricket Stadium will be open for spectators. Entry is free.
