Nagaland breaks single-day record with 276 cases

Continuing the upward trend in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state, a total of 276 COVID-19 positive cases was reported on August 4.

This is the highest single day spike in the state, breaking the previous day’s record of 194 cases. Out of the 276 cases, 187 were from Dimapur while 89 were reported in Mon.

214 out of 276 positive cases were Armed Forces while 52 were returnees, 5 frontline workers and 5 traced contacts accounted for the remaining cases, according to a status update from the State Nodal Officer (IDSP), Department of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.

With this, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the state is 2405 as on August 4. The highest number of cases is among the returnees and Armed Forces, followed by frontline workers and traced contacts.

Recovery rate dips to 27.4%
Against the total number of 2405 positive cases in the state, the number of recoveries reported in the Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin was 659 as on August 4.  According to the figure available on Union government’s website, the national average of recoveries is 66.3% while Nagaland has a low recovery rate of 27.4%.

The state has registered 4 deaths till date, out of which, 1 death is COVID-19 positive but not due to COVID-19, 1 had co-morbidities and tested COVID-19 positive.
