Er Sungtiba Amer addressing the media.

Kohima, January 25 (MExN): The Construction and Works Division (CAWD) of Nagaland, the agency responsible for overseeing construction under the General Administration, outlined its achievements and ongoing projects during a press briefing held by Assistant Chief Engineer Er. Sungtiba Amer.
Er. Amer shared that CAWD supervises various infrastructure projects, including those for departments such as Law & Justice, Border Affairs, Village Guard, Election, NSO, and spillover works for Treasury & Accounts and CPMF (CRPF).
He provided an overview of the state’s administrative infrastructure, which includes 17 district headquarters, 24 ADC headquarters, 17 SDO (C), and 65 EAC headquarters, encompassing approximately 1,588 functional and non-functional buildings under the General Administration and allied departments.
Highlighting progress, he praised the Nagaland government, particularly Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, for prioritizing General Administration by allocating sufficient grants to CAWD. Over the past four years, CAWD has successfully completed around 30 major projects, including the DC office complexes at Phek and Mokokchung, and DC bungalows in Tuensang, Phek, Wokha, and Kiphire. Several ADC office complexes, SDO (C) and EAC offices and residences, GA rest houses, and the Chief Secretary's Residential Conference Hall in Kohima were also inaugurated.
Currently, the department is constructing 14 pre-engineered residential structures for EAC and ADC headquarters as a pilot project. Ongoing projects include DC office complexes in Zunheboto, Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Niuland, and Tseminyu. Additionally, the DC office complex for Dimapur has been sanctioned and is in the pipeline.
Projects nearing completion include the DC Bungalow in Mokokchung, the ADC office complex in Akuluto, the GA rest house in Longleng, and the ADC residence in Chozuba, all slated for inauguration within the current financial year. A state-of-the-art Circuit House in Chümoukedima is scheduled to commence in February 2025, adjacent to the Sammogooting Stadium.
Er. Amer also highlighted projects outside the General Administration, such as completed district courts in Wokha, Tuensang, and Zunheboto; judicial officers' flats in Mon and Mokokchung; the Village Guard Rest House in Thizama; and the District Jail in Longleng. Ongoing projects include district courts in Mon and Noklak, flat-type quarters for law officers in Kohima, and facilities for Border Affairs in Meriema. The first-ever Village Guard Commandant Office in Tuensang and a Village Guard Training Centre in Sangphur, Shamator, are also under construction.
CAWD has further supported the Election Department by completing warehouses for EVMs and VVPATs across almost all districts. The department also manages semi-permanent and temporary structures for CPMF (CRPF) centers statewide.
