
Kohima, October 6 (MExN): A total of 141 children and 26 care takers from 23 child care institutions from Dimapur district attended the second day of the outreach programme at Raj Bhavan Kohima on October 6.
Exhorting the children, Chairperson, Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Awan Konyak encouraged the children to grow up with love and respect in their hearts for their brothers and sisters of their homes as they were part of their family. She also called on the children to take their education seriously as it was one important step to success.
The Chairperson also expressed gratitude towards the Governor of Nagaland for initiating such a programme for the children staying in child care institutes all over the State of Nagaland. She appreciated the love, passion and selfless sacrifice put in by all house parents in the institutes.
While delivering a speech on behalf of the children, Grace of Wondang-Ki Children Home, a class 12 student of Don Bosco HS School, Dimapur thanked the Governor for “having a kind heart and passion towards the welfare of the children.” She encouraged her fellow friends to “aim for their goals and to work hard. Nothing can stop us succeed in life she added. She thanked all Homes for the great service done for them.”
Special presentations were also made by Chanan House of Hope, Ebenezer Orphanage Home, Deaf Biblical Ministry and Naga Blind Children Home. A special dance performance was also presented by Atsi Tatu.
The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya while interacting with the children expressed his gratitude to all the children for their heart touching performances. He called on the children to realise their dreams through education and hard work. Encouraging the gathering, Governor Acharya stated that no work was demeaning and all should be prepared to contribute towards the development of their society.
The Governor also congratulated the House Parents for the exemplary job and giving shelter, education and most importantly a home to the children. He hoped that they will continue their laudable service for the welfare of the children.
Chairperson Banuo Koza while delivering the welcome address said that Governor Acharya has always taken interest in various welfare schemes and programmes of the Government so that the most needed and deserving people at the grass root level are benefited by them. She also appreciated the Governor and his Lady Wife for opening the gates of Raj Bhavan to the children of all Child Care Institution in the State.
PRO to Governor in a press release stated that the interactive programme was followed by games at the lawns of the Raj Bhavan and lunch. The governor also donated carom board, board games, skipping ropes amongst other stationeries to all child care institutions. He also presented a guitar to the Naga Blind Children Home, Dimapur.
