Nagaland CM, legislators receive first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took the COVID-19 vaccine at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) on Wednesday.

“I am feeling okay,” he said while talking to media persons after taking the vaccine. He also called on upon the people to take vaccination without any hesitation.

Stating that the second phase of vaccination has come to the senior citizens, Rio said that it was an opportunity for all to take the vaccine. “Everybody should go to the nearest facility available and take vaccine,” he said.

The Chief Minister was optimistic that with this COVID 19 vaccine, “our country will be healthier and richer.”

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and several other legislators also took the vaccine at NHAK. Taking to Twitter, Patton stated that he had received the first dose and would be receiving the second dose after 28 days.

“I urge all eligible people to get themselves vaccinated and join in the fight against coronavirus. Let’s make India COVID-19 free!,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Minister for Health and family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom; Advisor for Urban Development Municipal Affairs Dr Neikiesalie Kire; Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining & Chairman NSMDC Kashiho Sangtam and Dr Rev Wati Aier also received the first dose of the vaccine at District Hospital Dimapur.

Phom appealed to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine without any hesitation and encouraged the people of Kohima and Dimapur district to set an example for those in the far flung areas of the state, a DIPR report stated.

CM Neiphiu Rio addresses reservation policy, land issue

With a crucial consultative meeting on the State’s job reservation policy just a day away, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed hope that ‘people will come and speak out their minds.’ He said that the Cabinet Sub Committee with Chief Secretary and Home Department will hold a consultative meeting on March 5 while adding that, “We should do sufficient consultation and we should bring everything into a system.” On the reported land issue that cropped up at the Mon Medical College, Rio, without going into details, said that he was, “in touch with ENPO, Konyak Union and legislators from Mon district.” They may have ‘local issues’ but it should not be a problem, he added.
