The Nagaland Government today announced the Chief Minister’s Grant for Journalism with the lofty objective of “strengthening the foundations of democracy by empowering the fourth estate.”
“This grant will be an assistance for journalists who will take up reportage that strengthens democracy, empowers the people and ensures good governance while highlighting the voice of the people,” Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio noted presenting the 2021-22 State Budget.
Rio further informed that said the government will introduce special capacity building and exposure programmes for the media in collaboration with central agencies and international institutions under its ‘innovative programmes initiatives.’
He further said that the Chief Minister’s Grant for Research Scholars has been created to support scholars and projects related to research in science.
A Parliamentary Studies & Research Centre for Conflict Resolution will be established in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and will conduct research studies, conduct workshops and seminars to enhance parliamentary initiatives to improve governance, amongst a host of other activities, he added.
Meanwhile, the Department of Information and Public Relations has been provided Rs 109.22 lakh for construction of offices.
