KOHIMA, JUNE 15 (MExN): Despite the NSCN-IM’s quit notice to the Superintendent of Police of three districts for issuing order asking the armed cadres to leave civilian areas, all the Deputy Commissioners today reaffirmed to remain alert, and protect civilian lives from violence at any cost. At meeting attended by all the DCs here at Kohima, they reviewed the prevailing law and order situation in the state, and the threat issued to the SPs of the three districts by the NSCN-IM, and decided to remain alert, Commissioner T.N. Mannen said.
Mannen, while defending the order of the Superintendent of Police said that the order was passed at behest of the state government, and is not the decision of the SPs alone. The order, Mannen said was not issued against any individuals or groups, but to protect the lives of the civilians from trouble. “You can not allow the law and order to deteriorate”, Mannen said.
Commissioner further said that the undergrounds groups likewise had the responsibility in not allowing the law and order to deteriorate. “They should also respect the position of the state government”, Mannen added.
