Says that data leak occurred through a different medium
DIMAPUR, APRIL 23 (MExN): The Nagaland State Government’s War Room against COVID-19 released a report updating on the action taken by the government on a number of incidents that happened in the state during the lockdown.
The report was on the incidents of harassment and assault in Dimapur, hunting of protected wildlife, a suicide in Mokokchung and the alleged leakage of personal data of stranded people submitted to the Iamstranded.gov.in.
Downplaying initial suspicion that the security of the web portal was compromised, the report hinted at the leak occurring through a different medium. It said,“Data of stranded people, who had submitted data in the Iamstranded portal was compiled and sent to different Organizations / Unions in different states to verify the details and revert back. It is suspected that one of the office bearers leaked the data in social media.” It added that the case was being investigated by the Cyber Cell, Police Headquarters. “The War Room under the Chief Secretary has good tech security. This was a human error and the end-user or those collecting data on behalf of their members went a little extra perhaps,” commented official sources.

The report said that the village where it occurred has been identified and “A team is to be dispatched once a green signal is received from the Administration for moving into the village owing to lockdown.”
In connection to the suicide of a person from Silchar, which occurred in Mokokchung on April 17, the report said that inquest was conducted as specified under section 174 of the CrPC. It added that the swab sample of the deceased tested negative for COVID-19.
As to the infamous clipping (April 16) of locals harassing non-Nagas in Nihoto village under the guise of thermal scanning using a car stereo, one person was arrested. Four persons were further arrested in connection to the deplorable April 17 assault by Naga youths on three people, including a woman. “Reportedly the non locals were hiding a migrant who came from across the border, hence the local youths from Vidima village, Dimapur started beating them,” it said.
