The COVID-19 cases crossed the 14000-mark with the confirmation of 158 new infections from the virus on Saturday.
According to updates from the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, the new cases were reported from Dimapur (110), Kohima (39), Mokokchung (6), Mon (1), Wokha (1) and Longleng (1).
At 158 positive cases out of 713 samples tested, the test positivity rate was 22.15%.
On the other hand, the state also reported 44 cases of recoveries—34 from Kohima, 9 from Dimapur, and 1 from Mokokchung.
The state also registered 3 more deaths as of May 1, taking the total number of deaths to 97. This excludes 10 other deaths that were declared as ‘not COVID related’ after review by the state COVID-19 death review committee.
Accordingly, the total tally of infections in the state now stands at 14,134, out of which 12,268 have recovered and 1,353 are active cases.
A look at the overall case trajectory showed that it took just 7 days to reach the 14000-mark, after breaching 13000 cases on April 24. It has been 341 days since the official detection of the first positive case in the state on May 25, 2020.
This gap of seven days was the shortest period taken to reach 1000-mark in Nagaland after August last year.
