Nagaland: COVID recoveries exceed new cases for third consecutive day

Death toll crosses 400 mark

Nagaland’s COVID-19 caseload increased to 22,387 with the confirmation of 147 fresh cases on Friday. The new cases were reported from the districts of Dimapur (53), Kohima (47), Tuensang (19), Mon (10), Phek (5), Zunheboto (5), Mokokchung (4), Longleng (2), Peren (1), and Wokha (1).

According to the Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin issued by the State Health and Family Welfare department, 77 out of the new cases on Friday were detected from self-test or random tests while 38 were traced contacts. There were 17 cases among frontline workers, 12 from armed forces/security personnel and 3 from returnees/travellers.

As per the bulletin, the total number of recoveries in the State increased from 16,489 to 16,637 in the last 24 hours, indicating a total of 148 recoveries.

There are 4,695 active cases in Nagaland at present, out of which 192 are currently admitted in the COVID hospital while 4,263 are under home isolation, as per the COVID-19 bulletin.

Meanwhile, the State also recorded 12 deaths on Friday, which took the COVID death tally to 402 and the ‘not COVID related’ death tally to 14. Kohima reported 5 deaths, Dimapur (3), Mokokchung (2), while Mon and Zunheboto reported 1 death each.

As per severity of cases, 4,370 active cases were asymptomatic, 190 were mild symptomatic, 80 are moderate on oxygen, 29 were severe on oxygen, 18 were in ICU without ventilator, and 8 were on ventilator.
