
Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): The Department of Power, Nagaland observed ‘electrical safety week’ under the theme ‘safety by choice not by chance’ from February 6 to 11.
‘The programme was mandatorily conducted across the state for the safety and security of line personals and public at large,’ stated a press release issued by Executive Engineer, Dimapur Electrical Division.
In commemoration of safety week, Dimapur Electrical Division conducted several activities. Pamphlets carrying messages on causes of electrical shocks, i.e. act for mandatory clearance between live conductor from building and ground, do’s & don’ts with electrical appliances were distributed to every consumers in all revenue cash counters - 2000 numbers.
An official programme was held in the Division wherein to importance to follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was explained to all operation and maintenance staff of the division. SOP booklets were also distributed to every staffs. Live demo on how to fix and utilize electrical safety gears was also conducted.
Instruction/checklist for giving shutdown and recharging lines were installed in control rooms of all 66/33 kV and 33/11 kV Substations and fuse call rooms. “Team of officers visited every control rooms. Proper briefing and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) booklet were distributed to all staffs,” it stated.
Meanwhile, the Division has appealed every responsible citizen and working staffs of Dimapur District to follow the laid down rules to avoid unwanted electrical accidents.
