Kohima, August 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Directorate Ministerial Service Association (NDMSA) on Saturday underscored the importance of maintaining a well-organised and systematic file management system in government offices.
This was highlighted during the Association’s 5th Biennial Conference-cum-50th General Meeting at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima, where Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma, IPS, was the special guest, stated a DIPR report.
Emphasising the importance of a well-organised record system, Sharma called upon ministerial staff to familiarise themselves with the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules and other procedures governing service. He observed that while younger recruits bring knowledge and capability through competitive examinations, the experience of senior staff, combined with fresh perspectives, would strengthen the functioning of government offices.
“The younger generation of employees recruited through public service examinations possess the knowledge and capability to make valuable contributions to the ministerial establishment. At the same time, the experience and wisdom of senior staff, combined with the enthusiasm and fresh perspectives of younger employees, would strengthen the functioning of government offices,” Sharma said.
He urged employees to identify and address root causes of challenges and described knowledge of rules as a fundamental responsibility. “I advise them to uphold integrity and make responsible decisions throughout their careers,” he added.
Delivering the exhortation, Kroneicho Naki, the first Administrative Officer of the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD), recalled that the Association had been pushing for the creation of the post for more than a decade. He expressed gratitude to the state government for recognising the demand and said he was honoured to serve in the role.
Describing ministerial staff as the backbone of the government, Naki called upon them to carry out duties with integrity, discipline, and accountability. “I encourage them to remain committed to public service and strive to leave behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism, and faithful service,” he said.
Another exhortation was delivered by I Anungba Sanglir, Vice President of the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees’ Association (CANSSEA) and Additional Director, Department of Food & Civil Supplies. Sanglir highlighted CANSSEA’s role as the apex body representing government employees, noting that it has consistently taken up issues relating to service conditions, pay, pension, and welfare.
He said the association has also played an important role in the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and is actively pursuing pension reforms and the latest Revision of Pay (ROP). “These achievements demonstrate what an association can accomplish when its members work together with a common purpose,” Sanglir said, adding that a strong association contributes to an efficient and responsive public service.
On behalf of NDMSA, Bendangsenla extended a warm welcome and expressed delight at the Association’s achievements. She acknowledged the continued support extended by DGP Sharma to ministerial staff and described the creation of the Administrative Officer post as a historic fulfilment of a long-standing demand.
