
Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has prohibited exit or opinion polls regarding the Assembly Elections in Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya as well as the bye elections across various states in the country. In a notification issued on February 6, the ECI notified the period from 7:00 am on February 16 to 7:00 pm on February 27 as the period during which conducting of any exit poll and publishing or publicising it by means of print and electronic media or disseminating the same in any other manner, has been prohibited. As per the notification, display of any election matter, including the results of an opinion poll or any other poll survey in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the conclusion of polling in connection with the general elections and bye elections, under Section 126(1) (b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
