Nagaland Election: Total ban on use of Govt vehicle for electioneering

Kohima, February 3 (MExN): In view of the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct for the ensuring General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly,2023, “there is a total ban on use of Government vehicle for electioneering purpose.”

This was stated in a letter issued addressed to the Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland by Ruokuovituo Khezhie, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland on withdrawal of extra Government vehicles attached to Minister, Advisor, MLA. It also mentioned that Minister, Advisor, MLA etc are entitled to use their official vehicles only for commuting from their official residence to their office for official work.

In this regard, the Chief Secretary has been requested to direct all the Administrative Heads of Department and Heads of Department of the Government of Nagaland to immediately withdraw all the extra vehicles attached to their respective minister, advisor etc. “This is to avoid misuse of Government vehicle for campaigning/electioneering during the election period,” it stated.
