
Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): Nagaland cricket team today ended the Syed Mustaq Ali T20 Trophy campaign on a high note by registering their 4th consecutive win.
On the final match of the league stages (Plate Group) at T I Murugappa Ground, Chennai on January 19, Nagaland defeated Manipur by 8 wickets.
With this, Nagaland was the only state from to North East to win all the matches in the league stages (Plate Group).
Nagaland’s first march against Chandigarh on January 11 was washed out due to wet outfield, both shared a point each.
As a result, Bihar emerged as the leader of the Plate Group and qualified for the next round.
Earlier during the day, Manipur won the toss and opted to bat.
However, the team managed to score only 129 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Unbeaten Langlongyamba topped the scoreboard with 50 runs while Nitesh scored 23.
In reply, Nagaland reached the target in 17.1 overs, losing only two wickets.
Chetan Bist spearheaded the chase with gusty 60 runs while an unbeaten 36 runs by SS Mundhe sealed the match.
Stuart Binny, 15 runs (not out) and Captain Jonathan Rongsen 14 completed the tally.
