Nagaland: Establishments directed to register under ESI Scheme

Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): Department of Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland has informed to all employers and proprietors of the establishments employing 10 or more workers are mandatory to be registered under the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Scheme.


As notified by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India for implementation of ESI Scheme in the notified districts of Nagaland, the Scheme is being launched and implemented in the municipal areas under the districts of Dimapur, Mokokchung and Kohima.


All employers and proprietors of the establishments in the notified municipal areas of the districts have been therefore, informed to register their establishments or institutions under the Scheme and avail medical benefits for the workers and employees.

 

Description of establishments    
The following establishments where ten or more persons are employed, or were employed on any day of the preceding 12 months, namely:
•    Shops
•    Hotels
•    Restaurants
•    Road Motor Transport establishments
•    Cinemas including preview theaters
•    Newspaper establishments as defined in Section 2 (d) of the Working Journalists (conditions of service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955 (45 of 1955)
•    Educational Institutions (including public, private, aided or partially aided run by individuals, trustees, societies or other organization)
•    Medical institutions (including corporate, joint sector, trust, charitable and private ownership hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centre, pathological labs)

 

Areas to cover
All notified areas in the State of Nagaland where the provision of the ESI Act, 1948 has been brought into force under Section 1(3) of the Act.
