DIMAPUR, SEPT 29 (MExN): GB’s from all the districts of Nagaland gathered today to inaugurate the Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) office at Duncan Bosti, Dimapur. The function commenced with a welcome speech by A. Taku Longkumer, General Secretary of NGBF followed by a Cultural song by Dimapur Lotha GB’s (Women group).
Nagaland Minister of Industries, Commerce & Sericulture, Khekiho Zhimomi was the Chief Guest. He donated to the NGBF Rs 20,000 for the new office and Rs 5,000 to the Dimapur Lotha GB’s and also assured land allotment. In his speech Zhimomi also stressed on how one has to be a good leader as a GB and also highlighted on the concept of ‘Hereditary’ and ‘Appointed’ GBs. He held view that “this issue is still a debate today and one must accept the difference.”
The Chief Guest also asked the GBs to attend the coming ‘annual meeting’ of GBs. Dimapur Deputy Commissioner, K Nzimongo Ngullie also spoke at the occasion. He urged the GBs to uphold customary Law while delivering justice to the people particularly of those in villages.
He called for truthfulness. Other highlights of the function included a song from the GBs in honor of the Chief Guest. The vote of thanks was offered by NGBF Vice-President, Shalem Konyak.
