Nagaland Gov institutes award on basic sciences

Kohima, March 14 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland has instituted an award to encourage the students of Nagaland to excel in the study of basic sciences. The award known as ‘Governor’s Excellence Award in Science Study of HSSLC Examination’ will be given to the best six students in science stream. 

The subject combination will be as follows: 
•    Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) - 3 Awards 
•    Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) - 3 Awards

In both the categories the first, second and third winners will get Rs 1,00,000; Rs 50,000; Rs 25,000 respectively, stated a DIPR report. 

For the award, the following guidelines shall govern results:

The award will be awarded to the best six students in order of merit in the HSSLC Examination in science stream conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) subject combination - three students and Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) subject combination -  three students as per the criteria laid down.

A citation along with cash award shall be given with effect from HSSLC Examination 2022.

The students must belong to .an Indigenous Scheduled Tribe of Nagaland as notified by the Government from time to time.

The award shall be one-time only.

The students should secure 80% or more in their aggregate to avail the award
A student shall be entitled to one award only either in PCM or PCB category. He/she shall NOT be given two awards.
To qualify for the award in either category, the subjects Mathematics and Biology must be main elective subjects. In case of a student offering both Mathematics and Biology subject as main elective subjects, the subject where he/she is getting the higher marks will be considered for deciding the category of award.

The candidate scoring the highest aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) will be considered.

If there is still a tie in the marks and aggregate, whosoever secures higher marks in the external marks of PCM or PCB will be considered.

In case of another tie, the following norms shall be followed- PCB: the higher marks of Biology in both external and internal to be considered first and next the marks of Chemistry external and internal; PCM: the higher marks of Mathematics in external and internal to be considered first and next the higher marks of Physics external and internal.
In case of further tie, the award will be shared.
