
Kohima, January 16 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton have extended greetings to Kuki community on the occasion of Mimkut festival.
“I extend warm Mimkut greetings to my Kuki brothers and sisters and to the people of Nagaland. This festival express exhilaration and triumphant over the harvest of Mim (Maize) which is the last harvest crop of the season,” the Governor stated in his message.
During the celebration, Kuki community exhibits their magnificent traditions and customs while their ethnic culture is also expressed through art work representing their roots, he said.
“This festival is also a time to remember the loss of our loved ones… On this auspicious occasion, May God bless you all with a healthy and a prosperous life,” he added.
The Governor also urged everyone to celebrate the festival by observing the COVID-19 SOPs.
In his greeting, Nagaland Deputy CM expressed hope that the Mimkut Festival is “celebrated with oneness setting aside differences and boundary barriers.”
Besides Nagaland, the festival is celebrated in various parts of North East states of India, he informed.
On behalf of the state BJP legislators, Patton also conveyed festive greetings and further expressed hope that the festival would “bring prosperity and happiness to all.”
