Nagaland govt college teachers to protest against NEP draft

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 20 (MExN): The All Nagaland Government College Teachers Association (ANGCTA) will join the rest of the country to protest against the Draft National Education Policy (NEP) on November 22.

This is in response to a call by the All India Federation of College and University Teachers Organisation (AIFUCTO) of which ANGCTA is an affiliate, a press statement issued by ANGCTA president Lily Angami and general secretary Dr Kekhrieseno Christina informed.

It stated that during the recent national executive committee meeting of AIFUCTO held at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (SGGS), Chandigarh, the members deliberated on the various aspects of the draft NEP and drew a consensus conclusion that it would bring about disastrous consequences in the education system of the country if implemented by commoditisation of higher education.

In this regard, the members of the organisation unanimously agreed to resist the draft and ANGCTA, as a unit of AIFUCTO will protest against the Draft NEP in the form of a pen down strike along with the rest of the country, it stated.

ANGCTA meanwhile urged the private colleges as well as the students’ organisations to join and support the movement of ‘Save Education, Save Nation’ as all are stakeholders.
