
All Government Offices, educational institutions, both Government and Private, to remain closed on August 17
Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland today declared a seven-day state mourning, including a general public holiday on Friday, as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who died after a prolonged illness on August 16 in New Delhi. He was 93.
“As a mark of respect to former Prime Minister… the Government has announced seven-day state mourning from August 16-22, both days inclusive,” informed an official statement released by the state government via DIPR. “All Government Offices, educational institutions, both Government and Private, will remain closed on August 17 as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary,” it said.
“The national flag would be flown at half mast for seven days and there will be no official entertainment during the period of the state mourning,” it added.
