Zunheboto, September 6 (MExN): The Minister Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye has reiterated that he left his previous party, Janata Dal United not because of “suppression or insistence of any individual neither by peer pressure of anyone.”

“As the Naga peace talks are on its verge of solution, the main purpose of joining the NDPP was to “to strengthen the party and Naga political issues,” he reportedly justified, while speaking at his installation programme in Zunheboto Region on September 5.

The programme was organised at the residence of Khehoshe H Yeptho, the President Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Zunheboto Region.

Aye further maintained that Nagaland has “an old tradition of running from one party to the other,” a temptation which many still fail to overcome.

This is the main reason behind the political instability in the state, he noted, according to a press release issued by the Media and Communication Committee, NDPP Zunheboto Region.

Aye also noted that a political party does not function by an individual alone, but with cooperation and efforts” from all corners.

“Everybody has its own limitations but by being united, they can be unstoppable,” he said.

Aye further stressed that he not a minister for Sumi alone, but for whole Nagaland and irrespective of tribes, he is responsible for each and every Naga.

“NDPP will be party that stands for common good not just to rule,” he said.

The Minister also said that not only government, all the citizens are equally responsible for the betterment of the society and the message should be extended to every corners of Nagaland.

He encouraged the party leaders to contribute in social works such as helping the victims of disasters and also sponsor medical camps.

Meanwhile, Aye lamented that Nagas are disunited and disintegrated, due to political issues, and insisted that only unity can solve the Naga Political issues.

He also attributed “mis-propaganda” as the reason behind disintegration of political party and urged the party leaders to refrain from such activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to Food and Civil Supplies, Pukhayi Sumi said that the sole purpose of the programme was to welcome Aye into the party in general and to Zunheboto region in particular.

He said that he look forward to Aye, who is eldest from the region both politically and in age, to lead them as their leader.

Advisor for School Education KT Sukhalu said that the NDPP Zunheboto region and Nagas in general are blessed to have Aye in the party, and added that the need for a matured political leader on the verge of Naga solutions was fulfilled.

The Chief Minister has found a good partner (Aye) and this would make them move forward for political stability of Nagaland, Sukhalu added.

In his welcome address, the president of the region Yeptho said that the installation of Aye has strengthened the party in the region and they are “even more confident to face any hurdles in the future.”

Yeptho also highlighted some of the problems faced at grassroots level and requested the Minister and Advisors present to help them and also take advices from them too.

Among others, he cited the deplorable condition of civil hospital Zunheboto, Administration office, the need for Multi Cultural complex and skill development centres, and requirements in Govt Higher Secondary School and Zunheboto Govt College.

The programme was chaired by Kiheto Phuleshe Vice president NDPP Zunheboto region and recorded by General secretary P Hutovi.Awomi, informed the press release.
