Nagaland to implement Direct Benefit Transfer under MGNREGA

Wokha, September 15 (DIPR): Training on Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Public Fund management System (PFMS) under MGNREGS was held at Block Ghar, Sanis for Village functionaries under RD Block Sanis on September 14.  

Hamdok M Konyak, BDO Sanis who spoke on the importance of DBT said, along with rest of the country, Nagaland will start implementing Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under MGNREGA beginning from the current financial year. Wages of the MGNREGA workers will be directly credited to the individual accounts of Job card holders who have actually done the work on the basic of Rs. 177/- per day as daily wage through national electronic fund management system (NeFMS) public financial management system (PFMS).  

Under this system every job card holder must have a bank account dully link with Aadhaar card and unlike the present practice, where which of MGNREGA workers are paid by cash through the VDBs, no cash payment will be possible in the new system.

In this system, if any job card holder need employment, he or she must demand for work from their respective BDOs, who have been designated as POMGNREGA. Every job seeker will be given employment within 15 days. On being provided employment and measurement of work taken thereof, muster rolls will be filled and uploaded in the NRGA-Soft MIS and urged the participants to speed up the process of Aadhaar Card submission and bank account opening to enable the job card holders to continue receiving fund under MGNREGS. He also highlighted on Labour Budget and Pradhan Mantri Awas- Gramin (PMAY-G).  

Jacob Neikha, Computer Asst. Sanis Block, enlighten the participants on Aadhaar seeding and Geo-tagging of works, VDB Secretary Yonchucho Village, Arhonthung spoke on the importance of technology and encouraged the participants to be technology savvy. The program was attended by Village Council Chairmen, VDB Secretaries, Village Council members and GBs. Vizokholie, Computer Asst, Sanis chaired the program.  

Meanwhile, one day training on Direct Benefit Transfer for village functionaries under RD Block Wokha was held on September 14 at Community Hall Wokha Village.  

The programme was chaired by Manen Jamir, TA, followed by key note address by BDO Wokha, Albert Y Patton and APC, DRDA Wokha, Mathew Yhome spoke on Direct Benefit Transfer, Sr. H.A. RD Block Block, L.O. Kumzuk spoke on the topic PMAY (G) and S.O., Er. Imsumeren Aier spoke on the topic – Aadhaar Seeding, Geo-tagging, MGNREGA Labour Budget, followed by discussion among the 17 VDB Secretaries, and VCMs. The programme culminated with a vote of thanks by Mhonthung Erui, VDB Secretary Wokha Village.
