Maligaon, March 9 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) installed multi-product women’s hygiene vending machines at Guwahati and Kamakhya railway stations as part of its observance of International Women’s Day on March 8.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer, a total of six machines have been installed—four at Guwahati Railway Station and two at Kamakhya Railway Station—to provide women passengers access to essential hygiene products.
The machines were inaugurated by Shalini Shrivastava, President of the NFR Women’s Welfare Organisation (NFRWWO), in the presence of Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR.
The release stated that Guwahati and Kamakhya stations serve as key gateways for pilgrims, tourists and a large number of women travellers daily, and the installation of the machines is intended to support safer and more inclusive travel facilities.
The initiative was undertaken in collaboration with Sirona and Priya Communication to strengthen menstrual health and hygiene facilities for women passengers at railway premises.
According to the release, the machines offer hygiene products at discounted prices for railway travellers to improve affordability during travel.
NFR also stated that the facility is planned to be expanded to additional stations across the Northeast in subsequent phases.
